FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COVID19 RESTRICTIONS?

We’ve got you covered with our ‘No Rona Risk’ guarantee. If you purchase a ticket to a cycleWELL event and the dates are changed due to COVID19 regulations or restrictions; you can attend the re-scheduled event or swap your ticket to another available cycleWELL event.

CAN WOMEN ATTEND A cycleWELL EVENT?

YYYYEEEESSSSS!!!!!

cycleWELL started life as a Social Enterprise with a mission of providing men with an enjoyable way to learn more about health and wellbeing.  Our events had been designed purely with the unique health requirements, communication and learning styles and social and cultural determinates of men’s health in mind.

However!  COVID has changed the game.

The entire cycling community is suffering reduced mental health and wellbeing and there is a growing need for what we do across the Australian cycling landscape.

We are also finalising 2 WOMENS Events that will be open to all female cyclists.  These will be held in Vic and Qld in late 2022.  Pre-Sale Tickets are available for these NOW – here.

HOW OLD ARE THE PEOPLE WHO COME TO THE EVENTS?

We’ve had riders in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s attend our events. The average age of our attendees is “late 40s to early 50s”. Our oldest attendee was 65, our youngest was 28. Your age is not relevant to us. We are here to help cyclists of all ages to improve their mental and physical health. Our events are not competitive and are not cycling performance based. Our events are about the off-the-bike coaching and the support and camaraderie that you experience by spending a long weekend away with a group of like-minded people doing what you love.

HOW FIT DO I HAVE TO BE?

Our events cycling content and training rides are tailored to the ‘social’, non-competitive cyclist. cycleWELL events are NOT high performance cycling camps for elite, competitive cyclists. They are health, wellbeing and personal development events tailored to people who enjoy cycling and use it to maintain and improve their physical and mental health.

Most of our camp attendees average 2-3 rides per week of around 1.5 – 3 hours in duration. They ride between 100km- 250km per week in total, either by themselves or on small group rides. Their average ride pace is between 25km-30km per hour.

HOW MUCH TRAINING SHOULD I DO LEADING UP TO THE EVENT?

As we have said, cycleWELL events are for social riders. Ideally, you will do a minimum of 150km a week for at least 4 weeks before you attend an event. Of course everyone is different and you know your ability, experience and fitness level better than we will…

Remember it is NOT a ‘Boot Camp’ for elite cyclists. We have a ‘no drop’ policy on all of our group rides. Our goal is that every attendee completes every ride at their own pace. All of our official rides are fully supported and we allow ample time to complete them.

DO YOU HAVE ‘RIDER SUPPORT’ ON THE RIDES?

Yes. We will provide support vehicles including mechanical, sag and first aid for each of our more difficult rides. We also have a safety car for every ride and experienced, registered ride leaders on the road, within the group – to provide an additional layer of ‘on-ride’ assistance and ride guidance.

WHAT DOES THE TICKET PRICE INCLUDE?

Your ticket covers the majority of your expenses including; accommodation, all breakfasts and most meals, ride nutrition and support, coaching and workshops, entry to the social events.  You will need to pay for your own coffee after a ride and for your food and drinks at the social events that are not held at the base accommodation.  You can upgrade your room for an additional cost (subject to availability) and you can even hire a bike for the event if you don’t want to bring your own.

DOES THE TICKET PRICE INCLUDE THE COST OF GETTING TO THE EVENT?

It depends!

For our Victorian Camps for 2021 and 2022, Camp attendees need to make their own way to the Accommodation as specified in your itinerary and on your Ticket. cycleWELL will not cover the costs of travel or transfer to the Accommodation Venue.

For the Camps that we run in 2021/2022 in collaboration with other cycling event organisations – such as the Noosa Camp which is being run with our partner ‘Ride Sunshine Coast‘ – transfers may be included in the Ticket Price.  Please check your Ticket or contact us for more information if you are attending one of these events.

DOES cycleWELL COVER ME AND MY BIKE IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT?

No. You will need to check with your insurer in regard to your level of coverage for both personal injury and accident cover. If you are not already a member of Cycling Australia we highly recommend it – as your membership includes some basic insurance cover for you and your bike.

CAN I HIRE A BIKE FOR THE EVENT?

Yes!  If you travelling from interstate and don’t want the hassle of bringing your own bike we can arrange a hire bike for you (for an additional cost).  The hire cost for a 4 day event varies from state to state but if you allow approx $300 you should be fine.  Just contact us for more information.

WHAT IF THE EVENT GETS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19 RESTRICTIONS?

We’ve got you covered with our ‘No Rona Risk’ guarantee. If you purchase a ticket to a cycleWELL event and the dates are changed due to COVID19 regulations or restrictions; you can attend the re-scheduled event or swap your ticket to another available cycleWELL event.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE EVENT DOESN’T GET ENOUGH PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD?

cycleWELL is a social enterprise. At this stage, we have no financial sponsors or support, our events are funded by ticket sales and by our Founder & CEO – Ash Bennallack – to ensure we can keep doing what we do. As such, we need to sell enough tickets for a cycleWELL event to cover costs before we can confirm that it will go ahead.

One of our guiding principles is that we will not add to the financial or emotional stress of our community so, if you purchase a ticket to a cycleWELL event and it does not get minimum numbers to go ahead – you will have the option to get your money back in full, or to transfer your ticket to another cycleWELL event on an alternative date. The choice will be yours.  You wont lose any money.

WHAT IF I’M NOT SURE IF A cycleWELL EVENT IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We’re confident you’ll love our events, which is why offer a 200% Money Back guarantee – that means if you come to a cycleWELL event and don’t feel it was worth your time, we’ll give you a full refund and offer you a FREE ticket to our next event.

If you have questions, feel free to contact us and we can have a chat.  No stress.  No commitment.  No hard sell.  We’re not here to sell.  We’re here to help and have a good time in the process!
